This Is Exactly How I Recovered Hacked Instagram Account

Are you trying desperately to recover hacked instagram account? It seems that hackers are somehow taking over accounts more frequently than ever. People on my feed are constantly sharing bitcoin scams which make it obvious that they’ve been hacked. I was always wondering about how that could happen until it happened to me.

Many of us use Instagram as our livelihoods. Whether that’s for use on our own business or for our client’s business. So the fact that Meta is one of the largest platforms out there that the entire world uses and has no basic customer support capabilities is wild.

I had my account hacked for two weeks. It took me 2 weeks trying to get it back doing steps 1 and 2 below, with no luck. After doing step 3, I had recovered my hacked instagram account in less than 24 hours.

The 3 Main Methods To Recover Hacked Instagram Account

1. Submit The Instagram Hacked Form To Recover Hacked Instagram Account

To be honest, this way is pretty shitty and most likely won’t work. You can give it a try but then I’d skip to step 2 and 3 honestly. The Facebook help links just took me in a circle over and over again until I was blue in the face. It is quite maddening how it appears to be set up to do absolutely nothing. 

1. Go to this site: https://www.instagram.com/hacked

2. Choose this option:

3. Then it’ll take you to a screen to fill out your account information. If you are eligible to be identified, it’ll ask you for proof of identity. This did not work for me and instead just took me back to the original screen. Very frustrating. 

2. Submit A Video Verification To Verify Your Identity To Recover Hacked Instagram Account

This way sucks as well in my opinion. I was denied every single time (I did about 30 attempts) hoping for it to work. I read many reddit threads that people got theirs approved after weeks or months of trying. I didn’t want to wait that long. But then there are others who have this work right away. So I definitely recommend giving it a try before going to step 3. 

1. From your phone, go to log into the account.

2. It should ask you for the password, if you know it put it in. It’ll ask for the 2FA code if you have that set up.

3. If the hackers have their 2FA added, ask for the get support choice. It’ll then ask you to submit a video selfie for identification purposes. 

4. Follow the on-screen instructions and submit the video. You will receive an emial stating they received it. You usually get a response within like 10-20 minnutes. 

5. If it’s approved, change the password then hurry and remove the 2FA from your account before the hackers can kick you back out again. I’ve read of this happening. 

6. If they changed the password on you, I believe you can still do the get support option when trying to login. 

7. If this doesn’t work for you – like it didn’t work for me – I recommend going straight to step 3 instead of praying it finally works for you. 

3. Get Meta Verified To Recover Hacked Instagram Account

This is the trick that worked for me. After 2 weeks of trying to get it back on my own I decided to try Meta Verified. This got me back in after less than 24 hours. It’s the only way to speak to a “real” facebook representative. Although I’m wondering if it’s an AI chat bot to be honest.

For those that don’t know what Meta Verified is, it’s the support service that Meta rolled out that used to be for celebrities, big brand names and large influencers so that people could identify genuine accounts from fake ones. It gave them a blue check mark to show they were legit.  Now they offer it to anyone who would like to have additional support with their account in the event of a hack for example.

It costs $14.99 USD per month or $19.99AUD per month for it. You can sign up, get your support, then cancel. So basically just pay for 1 month. If you are a business or big name it may make sense for you to decide to keep the protection.

1. From your desktop, go to your homepage and click in the top right corner your profile. In the drop down box select settings and privacy. Another drop down will appear, select settings.

3. Then on the left hand side, select Accounts Center. 

4. On the left hand side click on ‘Show Your Profile Is Verified’. A screen will pop up explaining how you can build trust with being verified. Hit Next. 

7. Once that is submitted, you’ll have to wait to get verified. I think it took us like an hour until we received the notification that we were verified.

8. Once that’s done, you’ll want to go back to your accounts center and look for the ennhanced support feature. Click on that and it’ll ask you what you need support with.

9. Choose that you’ve been hacked. It’ll prompt you to fill out an explanation and then they’ll connect you to an agent via chat. Kindly explain your entire situation to them, proving that you are the owner of the acccount.

I explained I was hacked and the hackers added their phone number to my 2FA so I couldn’t get in. I told them I still had access to the account email and password. I told them I tried the video selfie, it didnt work. I even showed them that my business manager owned the instagram page as an asset 

They asked me to send them the emails that showed my account had been logged in from a new location and that the 2FA was added. After providing all of this she said they were submitting an appeal to get my account back. 

In less than 24 hours I was sent a password reset link to a new secure email that I had provided them with. 

I recommend changing your password to something complicated and enabling 2FA with your own number or a code generator app for extra precaution from being hacked ever again. 

 **I believe this should work for people who lose access to their 2FA from either losing their phone and losing the code generator app or losing access to their phone number to receive sms. Just make sure you have a way to prove that the account is yours.
